HITLER AND MUSSOLINI SABRE CLASHING SAFETY VALVE LIKE HYDE PARK ORATORY [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Juno 24. " All this high-sounding talk by Hitler and Mussolini does not amount to much. My opinion is that, so far from being a danger it is a safety valve, like the orators in Hyde Park.” So said Brigadier-general C. H. Prickett, of the Imperial Army (retired), when interviewed on arrival by the Wanganella from Sydney, he and his wife having come to New Zealand for a year, both being keen fishermen. “ I have travelled all over Europe in the past two years,” he said, “ and the general feeling among the masses is definitely averse to war; and that is so despite evidence of militarism in Italy and Germany.” He said statesmen in England, realising the need for rearmament, had used justifiable propaganda to secure general adherence to their policy of a large expenditure. Democracies needed special treatment.
