Major-general J. E.. Duigan, C. 8., D. 5.0., will make his first visit to Dunedin since being appointed general officer commanding the New Zealand Military Forces next week. He will arrive by the night train from the north on Monday morning and leave by the second express on Tuesday. Mr A. L Cassie ‘ started out this morning on a visit to Australia. M!r T. O. Bishop, secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, left this morning on his return to Wellington. Mr Hugh Speight was a passenger by the express to-day, being bound for Wellington. Mr W. Wynyard, of the staff of the Public Trust Office, Whangarei, has been appointed accountant to the Reparations Estates, Samoa. He, will leave on May 18 for Apia, and will remain in Samoa for two years. Mr W. R. Golden, traffic manager of the Auckland Harbour Board, left today for Sydney. He will inspect Australian ports with the object of preparing a report for the board. Reference to the deaths of several members was made by the president fMr R. S. Glendining) at the annual meeting of the,.Ota go Boxing. Association last evening Mr Glendining said that the association had lost two valued members in Messrs E. A. Richardson and S.. J. Goldsmid. He referred also to the .passing of Mr C. L. Piner, who for many years was aI prominent figure in their sister organisation.
