The Exchange market was quiet, as the new loan is being opened to-mor-row. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE NORTHERN MARKET. [Special to the ‘ Star.’] AUCKLAND, April 27. Values on the grain and produce market have remained fairly steady since last week.

The market for pollard in Australia remains, but even at the high prices now ruling merchants have deemed it advisable to secure supplies for at least a couple of months ahead, and substantial orders have been given accordingly. Current quotations range from £9 5s to £9 I,os per ton, and on this basis there is keen demand. Limited quantities are available from the local mills at lower prices. Cooler temperatures are increasing the demand for bran, which sells unchanged at £6 15s a ton. Firmness in the southern markets has led to an advance in oats, and B Gartons are now quoted from 5s to 5s Id a bushel. Chaff is steady at £lO a ton. There is no change in the poultry foods. Practically the whole of the fowlwheat now on the market is Aus-

tralian, and sells at 7s 3d a bushel. Small quantities of Canterbury command the same prices. Maize is selling more freely at 7s 2d to 7s 3d a bushel. South Island potatoes are less plentiful, as fresh supplies will not be available before the end of the week. The demand is not keen at present, as Pukekohe and other provincial areas are still supplying large quantities, and seem likely to for some weeks ahead. Onions are unchanged at 10s a cwt.
