COTTON ESTABLISHES NEW RECORD AN EXCITING FINISH Press Association — By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 23. One of the most exciting finishes in the history of British golf was witnessed at Moor Park in the final round of the Silver King tournament,, for prize money of £I,OOO. Henry Cotton, with a card of 73—68—70, Perry 73 67—71, Lacey 71—68—72, W. J. Cox 71_71—69 started equal. Cotton won with a final round of 68, and an aggregate of 279, which is a record for any' major British tournament on a course of championship length. P. Mahon, of Dublin, who finished second, gave Cotton a fright by doing the final round in 68, after three previous rounds of 72—67—73. Cox finished with an aggregate of 283 and Perry, Lacey, and Padgham with 284 each.

OTAGO CLUB The third round of the four-hall knock-out competition at present in progress on the Balmacewen links was played on Saturday afternoon. Results : T. B. Ferguson and D. A. Ferguson defeated T. 0. Tyrrell and W. S. Stewart 4 and 3. _ , , J. A. Scouler and A. H. Boyd defeated A. G. Simo and A. Lucas 1 up, D. M. Irvine and I. Carr defeated O. R. Spackman and R. S. Bevin 1 up. In a second round match also played J. N. Lemon and C. W. Glover defeated W. F. Edmond and J. M. Sidey lup.

MACAU DREW BAY CLUB The Macandrew Bay course was officially opened for the season on Saturday. Declaring the course', open for play, the president (Mr J. MTherson) expressed the club’s thanks to members who had carried out extensive improvements to the clubhouse during the summer, and had also promised a considerable improvement an the condition of the course as soon as the weather was more favourable. He referred to the good spirit which existed in the club, and extended his good wishes to the members for an enjoyable season. The first ball was driven by Miss Brenda Crawford. Owing to the linfavourable weather, the mixed foursomes for the president’s trophy were postponed until next Saturday.

BELLEKNOWES CLUB The L.G.U. match, played on Saturday under adverse weather conditions, resulted in a win for Miss A. R. Bell, 95 —23—72. The runner-up was Miss E. Burt, 95— 21—74.
