The King’s Cup for the ejght-oar championship of Australia, which was rowed over the three-mile course at Murray Bridge to-day, resulted: — South Australia ... 1 New South Wales ■... ... 2 Western Australia . 3 Won by a length; with half a length between second and third. Time, 15min ISsec. Tasmania was the early leader, but South Australia was in command at the half-mile post, being closely attended by New South Wales. Nearing the finish South Australia stalled off repeated challenges by New South Wales and won in determined fashion by a length. Victoria and Queensland tailed off the field. . This is South Australia’s first victory in 14 years. New South Wales hitherto had won the cup for four years in succession. PEARCE’S GREAT RECORD. The Australian sculling championship was retained bv the New South Wales holder, Cecil Pearce, who won easily by eight lengths from L. A. Purves (Victoria), with A. Munoth (South Australia) third. The time was lomin lOsec for two miles and a-half. Pearce has now won the sculls for the ninth year in succession.
