LONDON BUSMEN
THREAT TO STRIKE Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 241 The London busmen have decided to strike from April 80 ■ unless their demand for a day of seven hours and a-half is conceded. The strike has already spread to eight counties outside London. The Ministry of Transport is seeking to effect a settlement. [A previous message stated: “At the conclusion of negotiations on the claim of London omnibus men for a seven and a-half hour working day, the announcement was issued that they had failed to reach an agreement and that both sides to 'the negotiations would now consider the situation that has developed. For the present, the Minister of Labour (Mr Ernest Brown) has not intervened, and such intervention, involving a public inquiry, is unlikely unless it becomes apparent that the persistence of the men’s demand threatens to lead to strike action.]
