TALKATIVE BIRD
A hill mynah from Nepal, which was exhibited at the National Show of Cage Birds in London last month by Mr Andrew Wilson, Glasgow, is claimed to be the finest talking bird in the world. Its cheery laugh suggests that it finds the show a great joke, and it_ is not slow to talk (says ‘The Times’). “ What’s your name?” it inquires when anyone approaches its cage. “ What are you doing?” it may add, and then supply the answer with a decided “ Nothing.” The bird answers to the name of “ Mynah,” and its owner claims that it has a vocabulary of about 200 words. It speaks with a Scottish accent, and Mr Wilson feared that before the show was over it might acquire some Cockney phrases. In the next cage is a laughing jackass.
