CHISHOLM PARK GOLF COURSE
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —It is pleasing to note that Mr Tannock states definitely, that the golf links will be ready for play in the spring, and I am sure many enthusiasts will heave a sigh of relief to know that their weary vigil, extending over five and a-half years, is about to be ended. I trust that the corporation will on no account hand over the management of tho course to a club. Let it remain open to the public so that any person may, on payment of the green fee, bo entitled to a game. In my native city of Glasgow there are quite a number of municipal golf courses where anyone can have a game for 9d or Is a round, and they are self-supporting. A corporation employee lives on each course pu a house attached to the clubhouse) and acts as cashier and starting officer. Every player receives a ticket on booking, and may be asked to produce his ticket at any time during a round. This is to prevent “ gate-crashing.” This would operate quite well in Dunedin, I feel certain, although higher green fees might be necessary. It now remains for the City Corporation to look around for suitable ground for another course in the north end or central areas. What about the , reclaimed ground alongside Anzac Highway and between that highway and the harbour ?—I am,, etc., Western G aides. April 24.
