M’INDOE—BROWN. Early this month Clinton Presbyterian Church njas the scene of a very pretty wedding, when Elizabeth (Betty), only daughter of Mr and Mrs George Brown, of Wairuna, was married to Robert William, only son of Mr and Mrs William M’lndoe, also of Wairuna. The Rev. Thos. Tweedie, an old friend of the families, came from Lumsden to officiate 1 at the ceremony. Miss Molly Brown, cousin of the bride, played the nuptial music. The church was artistically decorated with autumn flowers and foliage, making a charming background for the occasion. Escorted by her brother, Mr John Brown, the bride looked dainty in her long-trained gown of ivory satin, with insets of heavy lace needlerun with gold thread. The sleeves had insets of fine pleating, which fell in a pretty cascade from below the elbow, over a tight-fitting cuff. The foamy tulle veil, flowing from a circlet of orange blossom buds to form a long train, was lent by her cousin. Ivory satin slippers and- a bouquet of cream gladioli, dahlias, and maidenhair fern, completed a charming toilet. The bride’s cousin, Miss Myra Battnck, of Balclutha, made an attractive maid in a gown of russet chiffon velvet, made with a slightly flared basque and long tight-fitting sleeves; The neckline was finished at the back with a soft bow of velvet, lined with gold lame. Her small hat of the same material was trimmed with a knot of velvet nasturtiums and a circular eye veil. Her slippers were of russet velvet, and her bouquet, bronze chrysanthemums, dahlias, and maidenhair” fern. She also wore tho bridegroom’s gift, a gold signet ring, and a pair of topaz ear rings, the gift of the bride. The bridegroom was attended by his cousin, Mr Chas. MTndoe, as best man. The ushers were Mr Len Trusler (Invercargill), nephew of the bridegroom, and Mr Walter Stewart (Wyndham), cousin of the bride. During the signing of the register, Mr Jas. Brown sang ‘ Thanks Be to God.’ As the bridal couple left the church the path was strewn with rose petals, and Joy, the small daughter of Mr and Mrs John Brown, presented the bride with a silver horseshoe, tied with satin ribbon and a sprig of heather. The reception was held in the Coronation Hall, where a hundred guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a black silk marocain ensemble relieved with touches of geranium red, and carried a bouquet of red dahlias and chrysanthemums. She'was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a very smart suit of black silk marocain relieved with white. HUNTER—JENKINSON. On Saturday, April 17, the wedding was solemnised at St. John’s Church, Roslyn, between Ngaire, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs S. C. Jenkinson, of Grendon street, Maori Hill, and Eric Oscar, second son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Hhnfef, of Highgate, Roslyn. The ceremony was performed by the Eev. L. D. (J. Groves. . Her coronet headdress was of applegreen tulle, and small velvet flowers to tone. The duties of best' man were carried out by. Mr Joseph Hunter, jtin., brother of the 'bridegroom. ' Mr John Allan and Mr Allan Thomson acted as ushers. At the reception,, which was held at the Strand Salon, the guests were received .by tho . bride’s mother,' who wore an ensemble of navy wool georgette relieved with white flowers at the ■ neck, and a navy velour toque, and who_ .carried- a bouquet of scarlet ; dahlias and maidenhair fern. Mrs Jenkinson was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Hunter, wearing a dove-grey, ensemble relieved with touches of pink, and a black velour hat, and carrying l a bouquet of pink dahlias and maidenhair fern. 1 When tho bride and bridegroom left i lu ter ci car for a fortnight’s tour of | the South Island, the bride was wearing a tailored costume of green Harris tweed, with a green velour hat and accessories to tone.
