DRAINAGE WORKS
£IOO,OOO LOAN SUGGESTED
SEWERAGE CONSTRUCTION IN SOUTHERN AREA
The raising of a loan of £IOO,OOO for drainage work is recommended in the report of the Finance Committee of tho Dunedin Drainage and Sewerage Board, which will be submitted to the meeting of the board on Monday night. “In order to provide for carrying on essential sewerage construction works, notably for the southern area of tho city, it is necessary to obtain a further loan authorisation,” states the report. “ At the present time the unexpended balance in the several loan sanctions of the board is approximately £120,000. This sum is, however, earmarked for specific works, and must therefore bo used for those works. The drainage engineer has prepared a schedule of further works for which it is necessary to make loan provision, and it is recommended that such schedule be approved and that steps be taken to promote necessary legislation for authorising a loan of £IOO,OOO to meet the cost of such works.”
