The fact that 500 Californian quail are coming to Australia for breeding and ultimately sporting purposes has led to a controversy whether the birds are likely to prove a pest to agriculturists. The consensus of opinion is that the birds are likely to prove a menace, with the result that the Federal Government has prohibited their importation.
