CORONATION MEDALS
DISTRIBUTION IN NEW ZEALAND Continuing a long list of commemorative medals which commenced _ with that struck in 1547 on the occasion of the Coronation of King Edward VI., a Coronation medal has been approved by His Majesty King George VI., and its distribution in New Zealand will bo undertaken by the Post Office, stated the Hon. F. Jones (PostmasterGeneral) in an interview to-day. The modal will show on the obverse His Majesty’s head surmounted by the Crown, while the reverse will display the crowned head of Her Majesty the Queen. The Royal Mint will issue the medal in two sizes, the larger, having a diameter of 21 inches, being in fine silver. It will be available in New Zealand at the same price as in Great Britain, namely, one guinea. The smaller replica, li inches in diameter, will be struck in line silver and sold at 3s, while the same size in bronze will be available at Is 3d. A small advance supply of the Coronation medal in silver is due in New Zealand about the middle of April, and will be distributed to the larger post offices as specimens, so that orders can be taken. The Royal Mint, it is announced, will also place on sale specimens of the medal in rrold at 50 guineas sterling each for the large size and 12 guineas sterling for the small medal. Those can be obtained direct from the Royal Mint, London.
