A9TIBTS ALREADY ANNOUNCED Although tho complete range of artists booked for broadcasting from the national stations during the winter months has not yet been announced, those stars chosen to make ;thb tour during the early part or the season, it is understood, will include new performers and some of those who have visited these parts previously. It is stated that the season will open on May 16, when Edmund Kurtz, the famous ’cellist, who was associated with the Spivakovsky-Kurtz Trio when here last, will give his first recital in the Wellington studios. Perhaps greatest interest will be taken in the tour of the Budapest String Quartet, an extremely accomplished body of musicians who are rated highly by some of the leading critics of the world. The quartet makes its first appearance on July 27, and will be accompanied on its tour by the Dunedin contralto, Mary Pratt. Also in July, Lionello Cecil is to start another round of the main stations. This will be his third visit to New Zealand under a broadcasting engagement. About the same time Thea Phillips, an Australian soprano, who made her first appearance here last year, is due back. Since her return to the Commonwealth she has been singing in the Australian Broadcasting Commission opera season.
