EFFECTS OF OIL IMPROVEMENT IN BRITISH WATERS (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, April 8. (Received April 9, at 1 p.m.) In a House of Lords debate on pollution of the sea by oil, Lord Stanhope said that, although an improvement had taken place, it was difficult to get international action to prevent pollution. The stringent orders given by British shipowners to their captains to observe the 50-mile limit had accounted for the improvement. The Government was anxious that the League of Nations should consider whether a draft convention prepared by a committee of experts could not now be introduced and accepted, with or without modifications, by the great maritime Powers.
