DREDGES ON THE MOLYNEUX
RESULTS EXPECTED SHORTLY The new dredge, built at Clyde by Messrs Stevenson and Cook Ltd., for the Molynenx Gold Dredging Company, is expected to be given its trial run within the next few days. The initial trials of the machinery and plant are now being made, and so far have proved quite satisfactory. Mr R. P. Opie, who is the company’s New Zealand engineer, said this morning that the trial will not be made for a few days, while a director stated that the dredge was expected to begin operations on April 14. While the dredge is being run-in only one shift will be worked, but it is anticipated that approximately a month later three shifts will be in operation daily. At the trial run, besides representatives of the company and of the builders, a Government inspector will be present to see that the dredge complies with the requirements, and, if everything is satisfactory, it will be handed over immediately to the company. CLUTHA DREDGE OPERATING. It is reported by the local representatives of the Clutiia River Gold Dredging Company that its dredge has begun actual operations, having commenced work within the last three days. The
dredge has proved satisfactory, but so far no information is available as to the results being obtained.
