FLOWER SHOW AT LAWRENCE

TUAPEKA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY'S DISPLAY The autumn show of the Tuapeka Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday. In the opinion of local growers it was the worst season experienced, and the quality of a number of the exhibits was a surprise to the public. The champion gladiolus, “ Picardy,” exhibited by Mr M. Carmtbers, was an exceptionally fine spike. The vegetable section was really a surprise in quality. The decorative section was well represented, and the industrial section proved a keen competition. The Women’s Institute had a stand depicting their arts and crafts work. Mr C. E. Naish (Balclutha) judged the cut flowers, vegetable, and fruit sections, and Mrs A. King (Stony Creek) the decorative section. Mesdames Labes and Crazier (Waitahuna) were the judges for the industrial section. The prize list was as follows:—! CUT FLOWERS. One gladiolus: M.
