‘THE YOUNG IDEA'

Sophisticated comedy, biting satire, and scintillating wit are the Keynotes of Noel Coward’s three-act play ‘ The Young Idea,’ which the Dunedin Repertory Society will produce at His Majesty’s Theatre for a season of four nights, commencing on / Wednesday next, March 17. To attempt this play at all, with its English hunting society setting, requires a cast not always available to a New Zealand amateur dramatic society, but the Repertory Society, with its largo acting membership, has been able to assemble a company which, judging by the progress of the rehearsals, will give a good account of itself. Central characters in the play are Cerda and Sholto Brent, Continentallyeducated children of George Brent, who has married twice. They are introduced to their father’s country house party, in one of tho English hunting districts, with apparently disastrous results. Mrs L. E. Hill, better known as Miss Rennie Marshall, will play Cerda, a part admirably suited to her vivacious acting, and she will have as her brother, Sholto, Mr Ken Stewart, who has already made his mark in amateur dramatic work. The two wives, Jennifer and Cicely, will be plaved bv Miss Florence Pacey and Mrs Hugh “Speight respectively. Mr Maurice James will play George Brent, and Mr E. W. Lees Ballot lias been allotted tbo part of Rodney Masters. The cast also includes Mrs K. W. Donaldson, Misses Margot Garrett, Isabel Seelye, Joy Knowles, JDr G. E. Moloney, and Messrs Maurice Chrystnll, Barry Irvine, and 0. T. Harris. Box plans are now open at the D.I.C. booking office.
