“Fungus.”—Fairy rings can be destroyed by applying new lime over the affected parts. The surface should bo pricked over with a fork before applying the lime. This will also prevent spores from developing into mycellium or spawn. “ W.S.”—Mix 11b of blue stone into 50 gallons of water, and thoroughly water the whole of the surface. It should be applied with the rose on the can. Fifty gallons are sufficient to cover 50 square yards. In a very short time after making the application the worms will come to the surface, when they should be swept up, as the solution does not kill them. Now is the time to apply it, as the worms are near the surface. “ Olearia.” —I should cut down the fence to the required height at once. If it is cut now it would have a chance to recover before the hard weather arrives. It it is not possible to carry out the work at once, you had better leave it until early spring. “ Pyrus Malis.”—(l) Your beans are being attacked by field mice. (2) The rhododendron should _ be pruned immediately after flowering. It is rather late for that work now., (3) You should prune flowering apple as soon as leaves fall. You can prune hard back to where you require it.
