It is desired that should be under 35 years of age, possessed of good educational attainments, and have had experience in social work among boys. Teaching experience will be regarded as an additional qualification. The successful Applicant may be required to take up a position at any centre in New Zealand, but on appointment would probably be stationed at one of the four main centres. Duties include investigation of cases of children and youths coming before the courts; supervision of boys in their own homes; placement of boys and State wards in situations where necessary, and their subsequent supervision. The Appointee must have organising ability and must be prepared to undertake general social and constructive work among youth of the community as well as to study social welfare literature and allied legislation. The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the various Acts and Regulations affecting the Public Service. The successful Applicant will require to bear any expense incurred in travelling to take up his appointment.
