FISH THAT SAIL
The spotted sword-fish or sail-fish of the Indian Ocean is an example of a fish that sails as well as swims. A huge fin grows out from the upper side of its body, and the fish delights to bask at the surface with the fin fully expanded and rising above the water.
This serves as a fine sail, by which its owner is carried along at a great rate. Some of the jellyfishes are also: in the habit of sailing. One known as the Portuguese man-of-war. is provided with a huge float, which sticks out of the water and so offers a large-surface for the wind to. propel.
