Cheaper.—After a careful survey of the display in the windows, Macpherson entered the shop and approached the counter. “ I want,” he said, “ a cheap coat hanger.” “ Yes, sir,” said the assistant. He took out a drawer. “ These are twopence each,” he added. Macpherson pondered over the collection for a while, then shook his head. ‘‘Ha’e ye nothin’ cheaper?” he asked. “ What about a nail?” suggested the assistant.
