LOWER GRADE CURDS
TAMPERING WITH CHEESE CONVICTION [Pee United Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., February 18. Walter Edward Cook, manager of the Mangahao cheese factory, wai fined £5 before the magistrate (Mr J. L. Stout, S.M.) at Pahiatua to-day. The case rose out of an information laid by the Department of Agriculture charging him with .contraventions of the dairy regulations. Cook pleaded guilty. If was shown by the prosecution that over 50 crates of cheese had been tampered with by the inclusion of lower grade curds. In view of the likelihood of Cook’s ticket being affected, the Bench did not impose a heavy fine. . . A similar charge against the factory was withdrawn, the department having satisfied itself that_ the latter waa an innocent party. This fact was admitted by the prosecuting counsel.
