The Dunedin Whippet Racing Club starts its new year with a meeting at the club grounds to-morrow. Good nominations have been received for three races. T. Wood has Taurus well again, and' Jiis dog will make Red Glow do his best in the Second Class Handicap. E. Sheed’s Glemvyn will have to do bettor than he is doing in training to bo to the fore to-morrow. Eighteen Carat is a nomination from Invercargill, and may spring a surprise in the Second Class Handicap. Hazelwood is only a light-weight in tho Second Class Race, but this bitch is in the pink at present, and may be in the money. D. Hutchinson has Nightly well at present. This dog was unlucky at tfcm last meeting. R. Stanners is long overdue for a win, and it is not for the want of training, as ho is alway’s on the track with his team. The Turner Brothers have three nominations in the Open Handicap—Cashier off the front, Silver Tom off lOJyds, and Blue Vision off 81yds. This team is doing good track work. Alali Boy is another Invercargill nomination, and is off a good mark Gold Flight will have to do better than he did at the last meeting to havo any chance in this field. G. Little has Phnephoria off a good mark now, avid this dog should be in the money. Proud Prince will have to do better than he is in training to have any chance with'■this field. J. Berry has his team well at present. Caraperdown ’ is in the Open Hurdles, and he should collect a purse. Tho club held 13 race meetings last season, and received 432 nominations, paying out £156 7s 8d in prize money. The classes of races run during the season were:—Open Flat (13), Second Class (12), Open Hurdles (11), Improvers (9), Alaiden Hurdles (9), Lightweight (7) . Novice Hurdles (6), Maiden Flat (4), Extended Nursery (4), Novice (3), Juvenile (3V, Nursery (2), Free-for-all (2), Aliddle-weight (1), In the most starts for any one dog the honours go to Gold Flight (25), with Happy Win (21) next. The best nominators for the year were W. H. Turner'(s6), F. Tanner (52). The highest stake winning dogs were:—Tolan (£2l 7s 9d), Gold Flight (£lB 4s). The greatest number of wins were registered by Gold Flight (8), Red Glow (7), Cashier. Blue Vision, and Heloise (6), Happy AVin, and Tolan (5). Winning trainers were:—W. H. Turner (15), F, Tanner (14), J. J. Berry (12), Airs W. Guthrie (10), C. A. Hensleigh (9)i Dogs that should run well at tomorrow’s meeting are:— !
