A DALMORE SUGGESTION.
to tub editoe.
Sir, —I read with interest a letter in relation to a scheme for the subdividing ot a property in Pine Hill. What struck me very forcibly was the suggestion that the concern be bought out aud a municipal piggery bo established at some place remote from the eye and nostril of tho public. In my opinion this is a very sound idea —the establishment of a municipal piggery—and I would suggest Wakari. This is only a suggestion; there are no doubt places equally as good. It is beyond doubt that the pig farmers operating in and around Dunedin are a great service to tho health of our city. The removal daily of perishable food and its consumption by pigs is certainly more hygienic than having it dumped. The pig is a very fastidious animal and will pick out the best of food, nosing aside banana skins, potato peelings, and other remnants of food that a human would discard. I submit that a piggery controlled by the City Corporation would not only he a financial success, but would also be the means of providing tasty breakfasts for the worker. What would be more pleasing than to view white lorries manned by white-overnlled men collecting in white containers perishable food for ultimate human consumption. — T. am, etc., ■ , Grunt.
