She will come to Dunedin to-morrow morning, and is scheduled to sail on Monday for Lyttelton, Wellington, Opua, Auckland, and Wanganui to load Homeward. Hula was due this afternoon with explosives from Melbourne, She has been sheltering on the coast. Polzella is expected to come to Dunedin to-night to complete discharge of Ocean Island phosphate. Karctu arrived at Bluff this morning, and will leave there to-night for Dunedin, where she is expected to-morrovy. fihe will sail on Saturday for Timaru and Lyttelton. Omana is now due here on Sunday from Adelaide direct. After discharge at Dunedin the vessel completes at Lyttelton, Wellington, and Portland. Canadian Highlander is due this afternoon from Halifax via northern ports, ' Sydney Maru,_ from Japan via northern ports, is now scheduled to call at Bluff before berthing at Dunedin. She is due here on February 23 and sails three days later for northern ports to continue loading for Japan. Zealandio is due here on February 21 from London and United Kingdom ports to load. She will sail finally on February 26 from Port Chalmers for Southampton via Cape Horn and Las Palmas.

Anhalt, from Gulf of Mexico via northern ports, is due hero on March 6. Port Nicholson, from Wnikokopu, is due on February 20. and will sail on February 24 for Wellington. She sails finally from that port on February 27 for London via Cape Horn. Bencruachan is expected to arrive at Port Chalmers from Bluff on February 24, to sail two days later for Dunkirk.

Huntingdon will return to Dunedin from Bluff on February 24 to complete loading for United Kingdom ports. She sails on February 26 for London direct Arawa left Southampton on January 22 for Wellington. Lyttelton, Port .Chalmers, and Bluff. She is due at Wellington on February 27, and Dunedin on March 4. Surrey is due at Duendin on March 8 from New York via Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Cambridge is due hero on March 16 from Liverpool via main northern ports. ATHENIC LAUNCHED. Under charier to load Australian wheat for the United Kingdom, tho steamer Athenic was recently launched from the yards of Wra. Gray and Co., England. The vessel, which is being built for Sir Walter H. Cockenline, of Hull, is a sister ship to the Germanic, which was launched last October. Specially designed for economic service, she is being fitted out with the most modem equipment to make her a general trading vessel suitable for all conditions Included in her equipment will be an up-to-date cold-storage chamber and refrigeration plant. Her apparatus will include a modern sounding device and special electric lighting facilities for the handling of cargo. HOMING PIGEONS AT SEA. Homing pigeons are still in common use as message carriers in at least one trade. The seine trawler, Cellina, which visited Gisborne recently to undergo annual survey and overhaul, carried a crate containing a homing pigeon. A member of- the crew explained that it was a regular practise for trawlers such as the Cellina, which operated at sea for perhaps two or more days,- to send messages- ashore by the pigeons, informing the shore agents of the size of the catch and other information, such as the amount of fuel oil left in the bunkers.
