The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., Dunedin, has received the following advice from Loudon, under date February 12;— London sheepskin sales: The position of the market as compared with preceding auctions, prices are higher about 5 per cent, for combing merino, and 5 to per cent, for clothing merino. The demand was keen and catalogues were well cleared. 50-58’s full-woolled sound pelts, 15Jd: three-quarter-woolled 14d; half-woolled, 12d. 48-50’s full-woolled sound pelts, 13£d; three-quarter-woolled, 12Jd; half-woolled, 12d, 4446’s full-woolled sound pelts, 13d; three - quarter - woolled, 12-Jd; halfwoolled, 12d. 40’s full-woolled sound pelts, 13d; three-quarter-woolled, 12jd; half-woolled, 12d, Short and shorn, lOd to IOJd. THE SEARCH FOR GOLD DREDGING RETURNS Waipapa Beach. 340 z for 135 hours’ dredging. Okarito.—27oz lldwt; 121 hours. Nemona.—24oz, for about two days’ digging in virgin ground, the rest of the time being through old tailings. After another week’s work the dredge should be operating in solid ground all over the cut. BIG RIVER MINES The report for the week ended February 0 states - No. 2 Level.—Advanced sft on Deep Creek reef track, which is made up of broken quartz mixed wjth decomposed rock. No. 4 Level.—South stope broke through to iNo. 3 level, and what is left .of the stone is now being cleaned up before lining pass and mullocking up. No. 5 Level.—Advanced the rise 12ft through reef track, carrying small seams of stone. Distance now up is 24ft. Main cross-cut was advanced 6ft through slate country. A round taken out of south drive shows an improvement in ore in the reef track. Fiftyeight trucks of stone (29 tons) were delivered to the surface bins.
