THE SHARE MARKET DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE BRISK TRADING MAINTAINED Lively trading conditions continued to prevail on the local share market this mornInk no fewer than 13 sales being recorded at the meeting of the Exchange \alues generally revealed a definite tendency to harden as a result of increased inquiry for practically all classes of investment shares. F Quotations were particularly numerous for banking scrip, but Commercials provided the only business on 'Change, two sales being effected at 19s 3d. New Zealands had a reported sale at the easier figure of 40s 3d. Australasias showed considerable improvement, and only 5s separated the quotations. E.S. and A.s also experienced a sharp rise, sellers asking up to £6 9s 6d. ■Unions were firm, with buyers offering up to £l2 10s. „ , , In the meat section Gears were wanted at 17s, and Eefrigeratings continued to be quoted cum dividend. The company’s annual meeting is set down_ for February 17, and the transfer books will be cloced until February 20. , .. Business was reported in Loan and Mercantile ordinaries at £44 10s and £44, the market closing firm. Mosgiel Wqollens moved up to buyers at £9 17s, when a seller appeared at £lO 10s. In the miscellaneous group Broken Hill Proprietary's were in strong demand without finding a seller. G. J. Coles maintained the sensational rise of last week, reported business at £5 10s being followed by a sale at £5 11s and further buyers at this figure, with no seller under £5 11s 9d. Dunlops were the medium of business at 19s on rising market. New Zealand Breweries showed a sharp rise from buyers on Saturday at 57s to 57s 9d this morning without revealing a seller. Woolworth’s (Sydney! ordinary shares suffered a slight loss, sellers easing Is and buyers offering Is 6d less on Saturday’s rates. x Overseas mining shares continued to attract keen attention, and al’ Australian issue* associated with base me'als appreciated considerably.
