A detached wooden outhouse at 18 Albert street, St. Clair, was slightly damaged by fire shortly before noon today. Hot embers caused the outbreak, which was attended to by the brigade at 11.48. At 12.55 a fire in Bradshaw street was extinguished by the brigade. The Awatea left Sydney for Auckland on Friday last with 14 bags of mail for Dunedin. The mail includes the London-Singapore air mail despatched on February 1. The air mail should be to hand at 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday next, and the remainder of the mail the same afternoon.
