THE REVISED BUDGET SAVING ON PREVIOUS ESTIMATES Preu Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 12. (Received February 13, at 11.35 a.m.) The Tokio correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says Cabinet approved of the revised Budget totalling 2,769,000,000 yon, which is 460,000,000 more than last year, but a saving of 270,000,000 compared with the previous Cabinet’s Budget. The army and navy have each reduced their demands by 23,000,000. The Home Office has cut off 162,000,000, chiefly by sacrificing proposed grants for rural relief, which is likely to be vigorously criticised. Whether the retrenchment is due to the contention that rising prices foster social unrest or to the widespread unpopularity which the army encountered m the recent crisis, it reassures commercial circles and ensures public confidence. The Government is modifying the proposed tariff increases.
