GRANGES THIS MONTH

24,000 CASES AVAILABLE [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 7. Arrangements have been made for 24,000 cases of oranges to be available this month, according to a statement made by the Hon. D, G. Sullivan, Minister of'lndustries ana Commerce. This amount is twice as large as that for January of last year, and the largest for January since 1933. Plenty of lemons would also be available, added the Minister. The Tauranga Citrus Association had advised the department it could any orders sent, but the surprising thing was that orders were not being received from fruiterers to the extent anticipated. Prices bad been fixed at a conference of representatives of the retailers, officers of the department, and members of the Fruit Commission. In the fixation of prices it was felt that sufficient margin had been allowed for retailers, but it had not been visualised as a permanent policy.
