LADY GALWAY’S INJURES
A FRACTURED SKULL [Per United Press Association.] ' WELLINGTON, December 9. A Government House bulletin announces ; Lady Galway is progressing well, but the injuries caused by her accident are serious.. She sustained a fractured skull, severe concussion, and cuts, but otherwise no bones are broken. Lady Galway was riding on horseback at Kilbirnie on Monday when she fell, suffering injury to the left eye, abrasions of the face, and concussion. She was admitted to a private hospital. The first bulletin from Government House stated:—“We regret to report that Lady Galway, while riding this morning, was thrown from her horse and is suffering from concussion. By doctors’ orders, all Her Excellency’s engagements are cancelled till further notice.” Speakers at the opening of a new wing at the Salvation Army’s Bethany Maternity Hospital at Wellington yesterday made reference to Lady Galway’s riding accident, and the Governor-General expressed his thanks. The mayor (Mr T. C. A. Hislop) conveyed the sympathy of the citizens of Wellington.
