POLICE COURT
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.)] FALSE REPRESENTATION ALLEGED. William George Thomas, who appeared on remand charged with, obtaining from Lucy Elizabeth Dobbie, with, intent to defraud, the sum of £139 by falsely representing that he _ was a Doctor of Chemistry in Adelaide and had a pharmacy there, was further, •remanded to appear on December 17*. Bail was fixed in his own recognisance at £2OO, with one surety of £2OO, and two of £IOO each. YOUNG WOMAN’S THEFT. A young married woman, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty to the theft of £ll. Chief-detective Young said the accused resided at Ravensbourne, and wa» in the habit of visiting a neighbour, On one of her visits she apparently saw, the complainant place the sum of £11 ! in a coat pocket. When the accused had left the house the money was missing, and the police were informed. Investigations were made, and the accused when interviewed admitted having stolen it. She was a married woman, 21 years of age, and had one child. She had appeared in the Gore Court in 1934, when she was convicted on two charges of theft of a petty nature. The money taken at Ravensbourne had not been recoverd. The Magistrate said he would like further information before dealing with the matter, while there was also the question of restitution to be considered. The charge was adjourned for a week, LOTTERY CHARGE. Andrew Joseph Francis Brown waj charged with having disposed of privat# property—a white rabbit coatee valued ot SJgs and a grey flannel sports suit valued at 3}gs—by lottery or chance, contrary to the Gaining Act, 1908, and on the application of Mr G. T. Baylee,. who appeared fot Brown, the, charge was adjourned for a week.
