HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The monthly meeting of the executive of the Otago High School Old Boys’ Society was held last night, when there were present—Messrs W. F. Watters (in the chair), E. Webster, R. W. S. Botting, E. R. Winkel, W. J. Strong, J. Fletcher, F. H. Campbell, Dr Begg, L. M. Satterthwaite, H. Harvey, J. M. Fraser, I. W. Cowie, A. J. Gillman, L. D. Coombes, E. C. Reynolds, and G. Jeffrey. The Otago High Schools’ Board requested the society to appoint a representative to propose a vote of thanks to the rector, staff, and the board at the annual break-up ceremony, to be held in the Concert Chamber on Monday evening, December 14.—Dr Begg was appointed. The secretary submitted replies from the Wellington and Timaru branches to the society’s letter, giving particulars of their office-bearers, notes, and lists to members who were willing to subscribe to the pamphlet of old boys’ notes to be issued in March.
Mr Webster reported that he had received a letter from Mr Clement Bell stating that the members of his family would be pleased to present a photograph of the late Sir Francis Dillon Bell, the society’s late life governor, to be hung at the school.—The secretary was instructed to expressing the committee’s appreciation of the offer.
Mr Webster also reported that Mrs Fulton had advised hun that she was bequeathing the late Brigadier-general Fulton’s , sword and medals to the school.—lt was resolved to write expressing the committee’s appreciation of Mrs Fulton’s kind ofter.
Mr F. H. Campbell, on behalf of the sub-committee, submitted the suggested form of the pamphlet of old boys’ notes, and it was resolved, that the sub-committee’s suggestions bo approved ~ It was resolved to make a donation of £5 5s to the Otago Cricket Association in appreciation of the service the school had had from the association’s coach.
