HUNDRED THOUSAND CLUB DANCE
Under the auspices of the Hundred Thousand Club, Miss Dulcie Hazelwood gave a jolly little dance party at Little bourne House, where the Ideal Homos Exhibition is being held, on Wednesday evening. The ballroom was artistically arranged with bowls of roses, with beautiful shrubs tastefully grouped in odd corners, and with the other decorations lent a carnival touch to the scene. The kauri floor, one of the striking features of this magnificent home, a gift to the City Fathers by the family of the late Sir'John Roberts, was in perfect condition for dancing, and delightful music was supplied by a 16-valve radio with gramophone pickup, an exhibit of the Midwest Radio Company. Adjacent to the ballroom were the lounges, which have been comfortably furnished by a well-known Dunedin firm. During the evening an exhibition of ballroom dancing was given by Mr Walter Hensleigh and Miss Phyllis Heads. Outside, the hundreds of coloured lights diffused a cheery glow and illuminated the_ native bush and beautiful gardens, which are especially attractive at present and well worth a visit. Miss Hazel wood was attired in a smart gown of satin beauto out on Grecian lines. Supper was a delightful affair and was served in what was formerly Lady Roberts’s drawing room. Those present included Misses M. Steadman, Barbara Jnglis, M. Clemens. D. Samson, Leslie Alexander. Phyllis Heads. S. Stevenson, Beth Hazelwood, and Abraham; and Messrs P. Barling. B. Millis, Campbell Dawkins. W. Russell-Wood. A. Browning, D. Hancock. R. M'Leod, D. Finlayson, and M. Hodge.
