BREACH OF TROTTING RULES
METROPOLITAN CLUB FINED A 10» INTERVAL REGULATION NOT OBSERVED [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, December 4. The New Zealand Trotting Association to-night decided to fine the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club £IOO for disobedience of the association’s rule that the interval between races should be 35 minutes. The interval allowed by the club was 40 minutes. The club’s letter to the association stated that in order to comply with the wish of the Minister of Internal Affairs that no money should be shut out of the totalisator the interval had been increased with the concurrence of the chairman of the Trotting Conference. The association held, however, that the concurrence of these gentlemen did rot iustify a breach of the rules. _ The association stated that it considered the fine a lenient penalty.
