TO THE MOON IN TWO DAYS!
A space rocket for which the amazing claim is made that it will travel to the moon in two days is being planned' by rocket-flying experts in Britain, Germany, and America. The British Interplanetary _ Society, which has its headquarters in Liverpool, is sure this experiment will succeed (says the Liverpool correspondent of the ‘ Sunday Chronicle.’ Scientists are working on a liquid fuel rocket which, travelling at a speed of seven miles a second l , will reach the moon in two days. Experiments were conducted in America last year with a similar rocket, which reached a speed of 700 miles an hour, but at a height of 7,500 ft the fuel ran out and the rocket returned to earth. A “stepped” rocket'will be omit, each of the three chambers being filled with explosive liquid. As speed reduced two of the chambers would fall olf, each at a given distance from the earth, and explode with a propelling power to send the rocket farther on its journey. ' j
