Auckland. —Grand Junction, 3s 7d; Traders' Finance, 13s Gel; Mount Morgan, 14s; Commercial Bank, 18s; British Tobacco, 39s 9d; Broken Hill (con.), 535; National Bank, 635; Coles, 79s 6d; Wool worths (West Australia), £5 16s 6d; New Zealand Newspapers, 40s Gd; Amalgamated Bricky (Auckland), 74 per cent., £102; New Zealand Stock (1946-49), £lO5 10s. Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs ;—Business has been more active, and a good turnover has been recorded over the past 24 hours. There lias been some improvement_ in Australian issues. At this morning’s call Australian Glass shares were in demand at 91s 9d, with sellers higher, and Mount Lyells were quoted firmly between 29s 6d and 30s 3d. Tobaccos seemed easier, with quotations from 39s Sd to 40s, but Broken Hill and Electrolytic Zincs were both firm at about late rates. The banking section was quiet but steady. Buyers for Commercial moved up to 17s lOd and New Zealands were quoted from 39s 6d to 40s 3d, South British Insurances were offered lower, at 90s, bringing in a buyer at 89s 3d. All issues of Government stock were in demand at full late rates, but not a single parcel was offering. Dominion Breweries were in firm request, with buyers at 28s 6d for ordinaries, sellers 30s, and buyers for preference at 28s, with no sellers. Christchurch.— To-day was a Stock Exchange holiday. Wellington.—Bank of New Zealand, £2; Dominion Fertiliser, £1 19s 9d; Dominoiu Breweries, 30s; Broken Hill (cont.), 54s Id; Electrolytic Zinc (ord.), 41s 7d.
