WRESTLING.
10 THE EDITOR. Sir, —As a regular patron of the Otago Wrestling Association I cannot let Saturday’s night event pass without comment. “ A Debating Competition ” would have been a more appropriate title, with the referee and Kruse as the competitors. There was cerainly only one man in control, and that was not the referee. This gentleman was anywhere but in the right place when numerous fouls were going on (including biting), and, good wrestler as he is, Kruse is a past master of illegal tactics, for which he should have been disqualified. Saturday night’s referee lost the chance to make it the finest exhibition seen*here for a long time. I am sure many who started off as Kruse supporters could not help admiring M’Cready’S restraint as the tactics employed by his opponent were below the level of M’Cready’s, who is undoubtedly a credit to his profession both in and out of the ring.—l am, etc., Enthusiast, August 10.
