SUGGESTED VIST OF JAPANESE TEAM [Pep. United Press Association.] WELLINGTON. August 4. Tentative suggestions^tor a tour by overseas athletes in 1937 were mad© by a special sub-connnitteo in a report to the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night, and the council decided to open negotiations with New South Wales immediately. The sub-committee favoured joining with New South Wales in having a tour by Japanese athletes next February, tlie appearances to be limited to the four main centres. The possibility was suggested of arranging for Jack Metcalfe to come to New Zealand to compete against the Japanese at Auckland or Wellington. The application of the Canterbury Centre for recognition of the performance of V. P. Boot in running 880yds in Imin 53 2-ssec on March 24 as a record was declined. The council previously deferred the application until further information was received from Canterbury, and the secretary, Mr H. M'Cormiek, reported to-night that although he had again written he had received no reply.
