The sub-committee favoured joining with New South Wales in having a tour by Japanese athletes next February, tlie appearances to be limited to the four main centres. The possibility was suggested of arranging for Jack Metcalfe to come to New Zealand to compete against the Japanese at Auckland or Wellington. The application of the Canterbury Centre for recognition of the performance of V. P. Boot in running 880yds in Imin 53 2-ssec on March 24 as a record was declined.
