VICTORY FOR YOUTH UNIQUE RAGE IN AUSTRALIA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 5. Hundreds of cars and three special trains from Sydney to Newcastle conveyed crowds of people to Gosford today to witness a marathon scooter race of seven miles and a-half from Terrigal to Gosford, both seaside resorts. The competitors numbered 50, and their ages ranged from 10 to 81 years. They included a middle-aged woman and girls, and also a champion skater. The event, which created considerable diversion and _ depicted all types of scooters, streamlined and primitive, was conducted over a paved but hilly motor . road. Youth triumphed, three Gosford boys, Sydney Wood, Sydney Picket, and Stanley Wiggins, filling the places and covering the distance in about 30 minutes. Only a few adults finished, some of them being bloodbespattered from spills. Two married women, Mrs Warren, aged 48, and Mrs Cullen, aged 57, took part in a challenge scooter race, which Mrs Warren won. The other woman finished in a creek.
