ADDRESS BY MR SHERWOOD At the Port Chalmers Town Hall on Saturday evening Mr U. M. Sherwood, of London, gave an address _ on ‘ Monetary ‘Reform in Regard to \v or.d •Ufairs.’ 'lho speaker was introduced j, y the Mayor (Mr T. Scollay). and in the course of his remarks sot iorthtim axiom that modern machines received no incomes whereby to buy the goods manufactured; some means of purchasing power must therefore be found. These were set forth in the Douglas Credit proposals. _ At the conclusion of the address a branch of Social Credit was formed, and Mi’ Simpson offered his residence ior the first meeting. Several members of the Portobello branch were present. A vote of thanks was accorded the speaker on the motion oi Air F . Tiffany.
