CALEDONIAN CLUB The annual meeting of the Caledonian Bowling Club was held in the pavilion on Mondav evening. There was a good attendance of members, the chair being occupied by Mr J. Seddon. Before the main business of the meeting was commenced the chairman referred to the deaths of three valued members of the club—Mr Alf Browne, Mr A. M'Donald, and Mr William Williams—and as a? mark of yespect to their memory members stood in silence for a moment. Speaking to the report, the Chairman referfed specially to the continued interest in the club of the patroness (Miss A. Greenslade), and also to the assistance given by Mrs Blaney during the past year. He complimented the winners in the various club competitions, and also the members who had been successful in the various tournaments, Special reference was made to Mr S. Burgess for his work in connection with the pavilion alterations and to the members of the Works Committee for their valuable help. During the past season the club had not been so successful. He extended congratulations to the winners of the Saturday banner, and said he hoped to see tho club higher on the ladder in the coming season. The report was adopted. The election of officers resulted Patroness, Miss A. Greenslade; president, Mr J. Abbott; vice-presidents, Messrs J. D. Cameron and H. A. Newall; treasurer, Mr R. C. Procter; secretary, Mr L.- J. Edwards; committee—Messrs A. Elraslie, G. Swift, W. T. Henaghan, J. Carman, and J. Lambert; green supervisor, Mr J. Sutherland; delegates to centre—Messrs W. T. Henaghan, J. Seddon, and J. D. Cameron ; auditors, Messrs W. Latham and F. C. Evans;, selector, Mr W. H. M'Leod. Mr W. Foster was elected a life member of the club, members expressing their appreciation for the great work he had rendered the club in past years. Xt was decided to enter teams in the four-rink championship and the Adess Shield competition. The question of the Saturday rink championship was referred to the incoming committee. BOXING HAWES BEATS R. AITKEN / [Pbr United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 30. In a professional feather-weight contest to-night P. G. Hawes (Christchurch) 8.12 beat R. Aitken (Wellington) 9.3 in 10 rounds, on points. Hawes, timed his punches better, and gave Aitken a good deal of punishment with hooks and jabs. Aitken used a straight \left cleverly. Before a packed house Cyril Pluto (Western Australia) 10.6 J outpointed Watty Robertson (Gisborne) 10.10 in a bout of 12 rounds. The fight was dean and open throughout, but the visitor was much superior in ringoraft, his footwork being outstanding. DRAWN CONTEST [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 30. Providing the crowd with a spirited contest Ern Jacobs (Wellington) and E. “ Kid ” Fisher (England) fought a draw in a 10-round professional middle-weight match at Petone tonight. Jacobs, who had already gained a points decision over Fisher, was, if anything, the aggressor over most of the distance, but the clever defensive work by the Englishman resulted in most of Jacobs’s blows getting no further than, Fisher's guard.
