SOUTH ISLAND MAIN TRUNK
GOVERNMENT BOUND TO BUILD LINE ONLY A QUESTION OF WHEN [Special to the ‘ Star.’] WELLINGTON, June 17. The report of the Government officers who made a recent tour of the South. Island main trunk on the uncompleted route has been before Cabinet, stated the Prime Minister to your correspondent. There are one or two points to bo settled within the next week or so, and there will then be a statement made regarding public works construe* tion, “ The Government is bound to build the line,” added Mr Savage, “ and it is only a question of when. It is a matter of shaping our financial course! Taking things in their turn, we will go on as rapidly as possible, consistent, of course, with proper financial methods and proper organisation of our activities.”-
