RADIO SALES
DECIDED INCREASE SHOWN CITY DEALERS' IMPRESSIONS The people of Dunedin are becoming decidedly more partial to radio iu their homes, according to local dealers. During this year the sales have shown a very substantial improvement, the figures showing definite increases from month to month. One prominent dealer sold 52, 74, 83, and 93 sets per month from January to April respectively, actually disposing of the large total of 195 sets m May. This is representative of the experience of similar firms in the past year, this dealer stating his monthly sales average was 77 sets. There is a popular trend towards the purchase of New Zealand-made goods. More expensive and superior radios are the vogue. Prospective buyers prefer to put their money into better and more up-to-date models with visions of the condition of the purchase in later years, rather than to obtain unsatisfactory performances through having an inferior one. More elaborate and improved sets are now on the market, and these are popular, more particularly of the all-wave and dual-wave types. The parliamentary sessions have done much to augment the sales of late. Many persons have purchased for this one reason, although this particular class have taken the smaller and less powerful radios, evidently desiring them for this specific purpose, or local reception only.
