MISSING £1,500

BANK TELLER ARRESTED [Pee United Peess Association.] WANGANUI, June 15. On Friday last it was discovered that the sum of £7,500 was missing from the strongroom of the Bank of New Zealand at Mangaweka. and a complaint was lodged with the police. De-tective-sergeant J. K. Robertson and Detective James Murray, both of Wanganui, made inquiries, and to-day a single man, Maurice Edward Alexander, aged 32, employed as teller in the bank, was arrested and appeared before a justice of the peace on a charge that, on June 10, being a servant in the employ of the bank, he stole the sum of £7,500, the property of the bank. The accused was remanded to appear at Wanganui to-morrow. It is understood that the whole of the money has been recovered. FURTHER REMAND ON BAIL WANGANUI, June 16. Maurice Edward Alexander, bank teller, of Mangaweka, aged 32, who nas charged yesterday at Mangaweka mth the theft of £7,500. the property of the Bank of New Zealand, appeared on remand this morning before Mr balmon, S.M., and was further remanded to appear at Taihape on June Ip* " r W C.
