SEARCH FOR OIL
GOVERNMENT NOT SPONSORING INVESTIGATION [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 10. A denial that the State intended to search for oil on the East Coast is made by the Minister of Alines (Mr Webb). - , , * He says ho wants it made clear that he made no such announcement. He recently, it is true, referred to intensive investigation by experts of the East Coast’s oilfields, but gave no indication that the investigation of experts would be in any way associated with the Government. The activities, if they eventuate, will be entirely sponsored by private interests. Ho has not been approached with any request for financial assistance from the Government towards the cost of investigation or any subsequent operations.
