TO-MORROW'S FOOTBALL

RUGBY Great interest is being taken in the meeting of the University A and Southern at Carisbrook, at 2.45. The match between- these two clubs for some years past has always proved to be the attraction of the season. Should Southern win, it will place the team in. a very strong position for the premiership. University is a good all-round side, and will no doubt put up one of its best performances of the season in this match. The forwards are a solid and fast pack, and their backs are capable of giving a spectacular display. Southern also has, a very solid forward division, and the backs also possess plenty of pace. As a curtain-raiser the third grade match Pirates A v. High School should also provide a good game, as both teams have been showing good football in their previous matches. At the Caledonian Ground Kaikorai will meet Dunedin. Kaikorai has been showing good form of late, while Dunedin ’has plenty of weight in the forwards. At Tahuna Park Pirates will play Alhambra. At Mbsgiel Taieri will meet Zingari-Richmond, and on the University Oval Union and University B will be matched. Official guides will be on sale. SOCCER In view of the return match against Canterbury on June 20 for the J. E. Jones Trophy, a trial match as a preliminary to the selection of the Otago team will be played at Logan Park, m place of the usual senior club games. The selectors are determined to place in the field a representative team which should wipe out the heavy defeat sustained at Christchurch recently, and two strong elevens have been chosen to play in the trial. The probable forward line will be opposed to the likely defence, and supporters have every reason to expect fast and interesting play as a result. The game is timed to start at 2.45.
