GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
SYSTEM OF PROVINCIAL AUTONOMY PARLIAMENT TO CONSIDER DRAFT ORDERS (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, May 28. (Received May 29, at noon.) The newspapers, in their comment on the draft Orders in Council under the Government of India Act, express satisfaction that it has been possible to fix April 1, 1937, as the date for the setting up of the system of provincial autonomy in 11 British Indian provinces and for the separation of Burma.
This decision has been facilitated by the Government’s adoption of the report of Sir Otto Niemcyer on the allocation of certain revenues between the Central and Provincial Governments. The draft orders will be considered by Parliament shortly after the Whitsun recess.
