HECTOR AWARD TO DR OLIVER [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 29. At to-day’s meeting of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Dr W. _R. B. Oliver was elected as the recipient of the Hector Award for 1936, and tribute was paid to the valuable botanical work he has done. Dr K. M. Curtis and Mr E. Phillips Turner were elected to Fellowships of the society, and Dr Bronislaw Malinowski and Sir Otto Wilckens were elected honorary members. The Sidey Summer Time Award was held over meantime, the opinion being expressed that more publicity should be given to the existence of this award, in order to increase the number of applicants. It was reported that about £l3O had been received for the Cockayne Memorial. which was far short of what had been hoped for, and a number of bodies are to be circularised again with a view to obtaining further subscriptions.
