OBITUARY
MR R. COCK [r«t. Uxited Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, May 28'. The death is announced of Air Richard Cock, aged 85. Air Cock wa»au early settler, a well-known local body member and former business, man. He was born in Taranaki, and was the founder of the bacon industry in the province. He was twice Alayor of New Plymouth, and was a former chairman of* the Harbour and Hospital Boards, Air Cock was at one time proprietor of the Crown Dairy Company, then the largest in the Dominion. He was the founder and director of the Sash and Door Timber Company, founder of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Trustees’ Savings Bank in New Plymouth since 1921, and chairman of, the Building Society for 20. years. Ha was also a well-known Freemason. Air Cock was a former member of .the Tara, naki Rifles and’ took part in the Panliaka campaign. He was chairman of the Ridd (New Zealand and Australia) Mortgage, Loan, and Agency Companies. Throughout , his life he took a keen interest in all 1 the activities affecting the progress of tho town. He is survived by a son (Air L. Cork, of Auckland) and a daughter (Mrs C. Williams, of New Plymouth).
